Margaret Mary Sharpe age 75 passed away peacefully October 11, 2021. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother, Mother In-law and Sister. Margaret was born to Floyd & Dominga Obermiller on September 20, 1946 in Burley Idaho. She was the 2nd of 8 children. She graduated from Burley High School in 1964 and married Rocky Newcomb in 1965. Together the two moved to Fullerton California in 1967 where Margaret worked for the Fullerton Tribune for 2 years. Margaret found greater opportunities working as a secretary for the district psychologist in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District. She would continue to work in the same district for 40+ years and was very much loved, respected, and appreciated by all. Margaret ended her professional career at age 64 and looked forward to retirement and travel.
But let’s back up a little bit. After getting settled in her roll with the school district, Margaret and Rocky purchased a home in La Habra and began to settle down. Margaret had 2 sons Mike and Matt. Margaret and Rocky parted ways in 1980 and shortly after, Margaret met Bill Sharpe. Margaret and Bill tried their hand at dating for a while and soon after, dating turned into a love for one another. In Dec of 1982 they were bonded together in a marriage that would last 38 years. Bill had 2 sons of his own (Sean & Brendan) and they quickly loved Margaret as much more than a stepmother. Together they raised their four boys.
As the years rolled on Margaret would become an amazing grandmother to 3 (Elyse, Kevin & Natalie). Margaret always showed her love by making all friends & family feel special. She was always ready with a hug. Family birthdays would always honor the birthday guest with their favorite dish! She would host beautiful holiday celebrations at home that included fabulous decorations, gifts, and home cooked meals. She had a way of making people feel right at home with her genuine kindness.
Margaret is preceded in death by her mother & father, sister Patricia and son Matt. She is survived by Husband Bill, sons Michael, Sean & Brendan, Sisters Cecelia, Mary, Marcella, Cynthia and Brothers Vincent & Joseph. Daughter in laws Maribelle, Susan and Joy, and Grandchildren Natalie, Elyse & Kevin.
The many neighbors and friends who knew Margaret should know that they all played a special part in her life as she spoke so fondly of everyone. She will always be remembered as a very special person.
