Mercedes Navarro Moreno Harlow was born September 24,1941 in Jalostotitlán, Jalisco, Mexico. She moved to Fullerton in 1959. She worked at Fender Guitar for many years as a guitar assembler. She proudly became an American Citizen in 1985.
She is survived by her son Edward Herrera, daughter Deborah Winters (Kevin) and beloved grandchildren Adrian Herrera, Maximillian Winters and Sophia Winters; Siblings Mary Gomez (Benji), Alicia Livengood (Kevin), Lydia Paulsen, Martha Vallejo (John), and Anthony Moreno. She was preceded in death by her sons Anthony Herrera, Ryan Harlow and grandson Jonathan Herrera.
Mercedes, affectionately known as Chata, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had an excellent memory and recall of events, food and stories from over 80 years ago. She was an excellent cook, every meal she made was savory and delicious. She passed away at her home of 62 years surrounded by her son and daughter.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 400 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832 on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 10:30 am.
