

Michele Ruegg (Prenovost), commonly known as “Mother Michele”, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on May 1, 2017. Michele was born on October 14, 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona, the 4th child of Tom and Kathleen Prenovost. Raised as a woman of faith, Michele graduated from St. Paul High School ('73) and Loyola Marymount University ('77). She worked as a clinical laboratory scientist at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, CA for 25+ years. In 1981, she married the love of her life, John Ruegg. They spent 36 incredible years together and were blessed with 4 beautiful children - David, Monica, Danny, and Stephen - and 3 grandsons. A talented seamstress and artist, Michele created her children's Halloween costumes and high school prom dresses and suits. She was also active in her church community, operating the face painting booth during the annual carnival fundraiser, volunteering to teach Spanish, leading the Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, and playing piano and guitar at many events. She was caring, selfless, and had a unique ability to connect with people, which impacted so many. Michele’s life, love, and amazing spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her death is preceded by her parents and three brothers - Doug, Bruce, and Ted. A Rosary will be held May 12th at 7pm, and Funeral on May 13th at 12pm, both at St. Angela Merici in Brea, CA.
