Monique Fattouche Morad passed peacefully at her home while surrounded by her loving family on July 26, 2022. Monique is survived by her three daughters, Shirley, Lisa, and Karen and her grandchildren, Sasha, Celine, Johnny, David, and Laura. She is predeceased by her husband, John Morad.
Monique was born in Zahle, Lebanon on August 7, 1937. She was born to loving parents, Wadih and Marie Fattouche. She was the eldest of three children with her two siblings, Mirande and Wahib.
Monique was not only beautiful on the outside with her style, charisma, class, and elegance, but her inner beauty was felt by all. She earned many titles including “Miss Zahle”.
Monique often reflected upon her most memorable days growing up in Lebanon.
Monique met her husband, John while he was on a visit to Lebanon. He was born in the United States and decided to go to Lebanon to visit his parents’ birthplace, Deir El Qamar. When he saw and met Monique, he was determined to not leave Lebanon until he married her and brought her back to the US with him. One month after meeting, they were married. That relationship lasted a lifetime until John’s passing in 2010.
Monique came to America, learned English, raised three beautiful daughters, became a great cook and loved her family to no end. There was never anything Monique would not do to make her family feel safe, secure, and loved unconditionally.
Later, when her kids were older, Monique went on to teach French at an all girls Catholic high school for 15 years. Until today, many of her students ask about her and remember what an amazing teacher and confidant she was.
One of the many things Monique was known for is her hospitality and love for people. She loved to entertain and cook while bringing joy to everyone who entered her home. She passed on many of these traits to her daughters. Monique was always so kind and caring and was always there for others in both good times and bad. She made a point to always comfort those in need.
Praying was always part of her daily ritual, making sure to always talk to St. Anthony, her favorite Saint.
A Funeral Service for Monique Fattouche Morad will be held at St. John Maron Church (300 S. Flower Street, Orange) on Wed., Aug. 3rd. at 6:30 PM. Mercy Meal will take place in the Church Banquet Hall immediately following the service.
