

Paul Castillo Kruthofff, of Springfield, VA, passed away November 19, 2016. Paul was born October 25, 1980 in Whittier, CA. He is survived by his two sons, Paul and Owen; his wife, Daena; his mother, Virginia Castillo and Jim Lovell; his father, Gregory Kruthoff and his wife, Barbara; his sister, Tanya McPherson and her husband, Dan; his brother, Nicholas Kruthoff and wife, Kasia; and many nieces and nephews. Paul enlisted in the US Army on June 13, 2000 and served honorably as a Microwave System Operator with several tours in support of the global war on terrorism. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant on September 19, 2006. He received his CPA certification from Kellar University and currently worked as an auditor for the Office of the Inspector General in Washington, DC. A huge Washington Nationals fan, Paul spent much of his free time cheering for baseball. He volunteered with Annandale North Springfield Little League (ANSLL) and took an active role on the little league field, coaching Paul's teams from tee-ball to AAA and later coaching Owen's tee-ball teams as well. Paul was a man who trusted in God and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, VA. A Mass for family and friends will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Holy Spirit at 2 p.m. Additionally, a Mass will be held in California next week with full military honors. Paul will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, CA. Paul often spoke of wanting to help kids and teenagers choose the right path in life at an early age.
