Raymond Charles Silva passed away on December 17, 2021. Ray was born on January 20, 1945 in Pomona, California to Father Raymond Perry Silva and Mother Helen Louise Silva, both of Pomona California. Ray grew up in Mount Baldy, California where he attended a one-room schoolhouse and then went down the hill to attend Upland High School.
He developed his love of skiing while growing up in Mount Baldy. Ray was a ski instructor at Snow Summit and Mount Baldy and was also on the Ski Patrol. In his youth he was on the Mt. Baldy volunteer fire department, worked at the Trout Pond, and volunteered on search and Rescue. If you knew Ray you probably heard the many great stories he told about all his adventures on his beloved Mount Baldy. We will miss his stories. Ray started at Apex Painting for his uncle Al when he was very young and went on to own his own painting business Ray Silva Painting in 1987.
Ray loved volunteering at Saint Juliana Falconieri Catholic Church and school where he was a parishioner for over 35 years. He especially loved working on setting up the electrical for the Fall Festival, helping with the annual Lenten Fish Fry, and anywhere else he could lend a hand he was always ready and willing to help. He also painted most of the rooms in the church rectory and some of the rooms in the grammar school.
His wife Marti of 35 years, his daughter Hannah Rose, his cousins Bob Silva of Upland CA, Linda Pillow of Upland, CA and Carol McCoy of San Dimas, CA. survives him, Ray will be dearly missed.
