On June 15, 1937, in Costa Mesa, California, Trinidad Torres was born as the youngest of four children to Miguel and Meregilda Torres. Growing up, he attended Garden Grove High School and later pursued his passion for electronics at a local trade school.
On November 15, 1958, Trini found love in Martina, and for the next 65 years, his heart was devoted to her. Their union blessed them with five children, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, but their home was always open to those in need, including exchange students. Trini's unwavering dedication to providing for his family fueled his hard working spirit, leading him through various jobs and self-discovery.
In 1995, Trini became a member of the Knights of Columbus rising to the rank of Honorary Life member of the 3rd and 4th degree. Within the Knights, Trini assumed significant roles on both St. Martin council 8238 and St. Jude Assembly 2375. He held the role of Grand Knight from 1998-1999 and Financial Secretary with St. Martin and he was a Faithful Navigator and Faithful Comptroller with St. Jude. His involvement extended to cherished community events such as the Polish Center, Oktoberfest, and Fairview Developmental Center, where he found joy in fostering a faith-filled family and community. His faith blossomed during this time, uncovering a newfound sense of kindness and compassion. His deepening connection to his faith not only enriched his own life but also inspired those around him.
As a grandfather, Trini actively participated in family functions and eagerly anticipated visits from his loved ones. He delighted in sharing stories, listening to new tales, and, inevitably, seeking help with his computer and cell phone. His happiest moments were watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing games like badminton, singing, and embracing him with warm hugs. In 2020, he experienced the unimaginable loss of his beloved wife, Martina. Despite the pain, Trini drew strength from his family, faith, and the creation of new memories until his final call to home came.
No matter your relationship with Trini, it was evident that he stood by your side. Though not always expressed in words, he had a remarkable ability to make others feel heard and valued. Tough, caring, faithful, and encouraging, Trini endeavored to pass on these traits to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
As family and friends gather to celebrate his life and mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, there is solace in knowing that Trini has found peace and is reunited with the love of his life. Let us honor and continue his legacy by embodying the caring light he was in the community. In his memory, let the life lessons he imparted guide us towards becoming compassionate beacons in our own right. Today, we join together to honor and celebrate the rich and fulfilling life of Trinidad Torres.
