

Ventura H De La Torre was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and nino to many. Ventura passed away in the early hours of the 8th of July. He was hospitalized shortly after celebrating his 100th birthday with a party.
Ventura was born to a newly widowed mom in 1924. He was the youngest of 11 children. Just before his 17th birthday he lost his beloved mother. At 19, Ventura served under General Patton’s 80th division in WW2. Ventura was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his service.
Upon returning from Europe he married his sweetheart, Esther Sandoval, started a family, and purchased his home in Fullerton. Ventura spent the next several decades in service to others.
In 2018 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor as a Chevalier (Honorary Knight) from the French Government for his service during the war.
Ventura is survived by his 3 children, Richard (Diane), Dede Fernandez, Lorraine (Rudy) Vega, his 4 grandchildren & their spouses, 5 great-grandchildren & 1 great- great-grandchild.
Ventura Hernandez De La Torre lived a very long life and he lived it extraordinarily well.
A visitation for Ventura will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832.
A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 400 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA 92832.
A graveside service will occur Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Queen of Heaven Cemetery & Mortuary, 2161 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748.
