

Virginia May Walsh, 94, of Chatham, formerly of Orange, California, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, June 13, 2016. She was born May 7, 1922 in Anaconda, Montana to Ivan and May Barrett Evans. She was preceded in death by three husbands: Donald S. Walsh, Robert Pharris, and Winfield Mackay; sons: Lonny and Clifford Walsh; brothers: Joseph and David Evans; and sister: Alice Marie Waters. Virginia was an active member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed homemaking and was an excellent gardener, providing produce such as fruits and vegetables for her family. Two thirds of her yard in Orange, California was devoted to her gardening, where she lived from 1966 until 2004. Virginia devoted her life to her passion for genealogy; she collected volumes of family history over the years, sometimes traveling thousands of miles for an allusive piece of information. Virginia honed her computer skills and sometimes received one thousand emails a day in regard to her pursuit. Virginia was the eldest of seven children, and she believed her role was to take care of everybody. Once her children, grandchildren were born, her role expanded!She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Steve Walsh of Minden, NV, Shauna Walsh Hayes of Chatham, Illinois and Chris Walsh of Syracuse, Utah; brother: Vern Evans of Utah; sisters: Genevieve Berry of Utah and Beverly “Betty” Mazzanti of California; great grandchildren: Lonny Walsh, Kelsey Walsh, Kalee Walsh, Clayton Hayes, Kori Hayes, Tanner Walsh, Jarred Walsh, and Adam Walsh; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
