Adelia was born in Olongapo City, Philippines, where she grew up during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines in World War II—an especially difficult time that shaped her resilience and practicality throughout her life. In 1994, she moved to the United States, where she lived with her family and helped raise her grandchildren, becoming a constant and comforting presence in their home.
She was the beloved mother of Rosalinda (and her husband Franco), Olivia (and her husband Enevio), Antonio, Loida (and her husband Gerardo), and Vicente Jr. She was preceded in death by her daughter Salina, who passed away as a child. Adelia was also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren.
Adelia found joy in simple, everyday moments and time spent with family. She loved watching game shows—especially The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed playing board games and never hesitated to gamble with family, often being the first to bring out her coin purse. She was rarely without candy in her pockets and was known for quietly handing out Starbursts to her grandchildren during long church services.
She believed a spoonful of sugar could cure hiccups, made homemade “ice-candy” during the summer, and loved to sew by hand. She had a talent for repurposing everyday items, turning old shirts and blankets into pillows and creating practical comforts for her family. She also shared quiet traditions with her grandchildren, such as teaching card games during summer breaks—small moments that left lasting memories.
