Amy Barrett passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Amy was the strongest woman we have ever known. Despite the pain she endured, she never let it show, always putting on a brave face and giving so much of herself to her family. Amy was first diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago. She fought fiercely and overcame it, celebrating 11 years of remission before being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2021. Throughout her journey, we were blessed to have the support of incredible oncology teams, doctors, surgeons, nurses and prayer warriors. Dr. Chitra Rajagopal was our rock and we are grateful that she was always in our corner fighting with us.
Amy had a successful career in the accounting department of United Communications Group (UCG) for 23 years. She took great pride in producing the daily cash report for the owners each day.
Amy was loving, kind, and unbelievably strong. We know God walked with her through every step of her journey. She was immensely proud of her amazing daughters, Megan and Katie, and loved sharing their accomplishments—big or small—with everyone she knew. Amy was also an extraordinary wife alongside her husband and soul mate for 24 years. The battles Mike and Amy faced together strengthened a truly unbreakable bond. Mike and Amy lived every day like it was their last and made amazing memories right to the end.
For the past nine years, Amy took great pride in hosting a spectacular New Year's Day party at our home, creating cherished memories with family and friends. Even this year, she was so excited about the celebration. It feels deeply symbolic that she passed away on New Year's Day, leaving us with a legacy of love, resilience, and togetherness.
Amy Barrett is survived by her devoted husband and soul mate, Michael Barrett; her beloved daughters, Megan and Katie; future Son in Law, Finn Schap; her sister, Jennifer Kestel: her brother, Michael Weschler Jr.; and her parents, Eileen Brennan Weschler and Michael Weschler Sr.
A mass of Christian burial for Amy will be held on Sunday, January 12th at 1:30pm at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kensington, Maryland. Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories at the Celebration of Life Reception at Argyle Country Club.

One cannot add days to their life, but one can add life to their days. Amy did this every minute of every day. She was one of those unique and special people who lit up any room she walked into with warmth, kindness and good cheer. She will be missed by everyone.
