

Anna Mae was predeceased by her husband, Richard J Meyer, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She is survived by nine of her 10 children, Pamela Meyer Zuckerman (Barry) , Richard J Meyer Jr, Robert S Meyer, Michael J Meyer (Jin), Linda S Meyer Griffin (George), E Ross Meyer (Barbara), Nicholas J Meyer (Kathi), Guinevere A Meyer (Gary Sojka), John R Meyer (Laurie). She was the beloved grandmother to Jake and Katherine Zuckerman, Nicole Meyer, Francis Griffin, Jack Meyer, Nicholas Meyer Jr, Patrick Meyer, AJ Meyer, and great grandmother to eight.
Anna Mae was the lifelong, loving and devoted caretaker of her beloved son, John Ronald (Ronny) who was born with a serious disability and predeceased her.
Anna Mae was also predeceased by her parents, Myrtle B and Reed S Ledman and her only sibling, Reed S Ledman Jr.
Anna Mae was born on 34th street in Georgetown, Washington DC. She was baptized, received First Communion and was married at Holy Trinity Catholic church. She graduated from Dumbarton Oaks secretarial school and worked at the FBI. She married Richard Meyer, “Dick” in 1946. They lived in Munich, Germany for 2 years where Dr. Meyer was stationed. Their son Ronny was born there.
Anna Mae worked tirelessly to raise the children, run the household and assist Dick in his office practice on the first floor of their house on Mass Ave in Spring Valley, DC. She was not a complainer, she was incredibly able and competent. She got joy and laughter from the doings of her children and she celebrated each one’s unique personality and talents.
Anna Mae and Dick retired to Pinehurst NC in 1986, where they enjoyed friendships, golf and their dogs. Anna Mae returned to the DC area after her husband’s death in 2003.
Anna Mae lived in her apartment at Riderwood until her passing. She attended Mass faithfully, helped in the Sacristy and volunteered in the Dementia Unit. She played bridge until she lost her sight from macular degeneration. The family feels grateful that she was visited daily by one of more of her children over the last year.
