

Barbara Girolami, age 65, died peacefully at her home in Silver Spring, MD, on Sunday, Nov. 27, following a struggle with colon cancer and Parkinson's Disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roderick O'Neil and Barbara Bowen, and brother Edmund.
Barbara was born in Providence, RI and raised in Coral Gables, FL and Bethesda, MD. She is survived by Paul, her loving husband of 30 years, and daughter Cecilia and son Tony. She is also survived by her brothers Greg (Carolyn) and Rod, sister Catherine Hunt (David), sister-in-law Adri, nephews Alex, Christian, and Eamonn, and dozens of cousins and other family members.
A graduate of Immaculata Preparatory School in Washington, DC and The Catholic University of America, Barbara had a long and rewarding career in music education, teaching, church liturgy, choir directing, events management in New York City, and caregiving. She loved storytelling and had an ever-present smile. She was a bright and cheerful light in so many lives. Barbara touched the heart of all she met and knew. A devout Catholic, Barbara was known for her faith, selflessness, and kind-hearted spirit. A Mass in her honor will be held at 12 noon on Friday, Dec. 2, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902.
