Bonnie Ann Heytens was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania in 1948 to parents Abraham and Edith. She recently celebrated her 77th birthday before succumbing to congestive heart failure. She was strong and put up a great fight enduring several hospitalizations since a severe case of flu in February, before passing peacefully on May 25th surrounded by family.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Jack; her sister Sandy and her sisters-in-law Eluna and Christine; her 2 children Michael and Belinda and son-in-law John and her 3 grandchildren: Amanda, James, and Nathan; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Harold.
Jack and Bonnie have a deep and very special love for each other. Over the years this love just got stronger. They are and always will be best friends. A truly remarkable relationship and a great inspiration to all who know them.
Family was what made Bonnie the happiest. This past Mother’s Day, after months of being in and out of the hospital, she insisted on gathering everyone together to celebrate, a testament to her enduring spirit. Growing up in the Heytens’ household meant memorable pool parties, lively backyard cookouts, huge holiday gatherings, and an abundance of love, laughter, and joy.
Bonnie worked in the real estate business for 50 years, training new agents, running an office, selling homes, and eventually managing rental properties. She treated her clients as family, and many became very close with Bonnie and Jack and our family. Even in the past few years, Bonnie made sure family members were taken care of by helping them buy and sell their homes as life situations changed.
A lover of all creatures big and small, Bonnie always went out of her way to protect and provide for them. She always fed the squirrels nuts, made sure any wayward spider was placed back outside, and saved many creatures from the perils of the road including a fawn, snake, and turtles. Her beloved cat Callie saw her through her recent illnesses and will continue to be a comfort to Jack.
