Brad was born on June 22, 1955, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Howard and Mildred Chattillion, and was raised in Columbia, Illinois. An avid tennis player, he earned a tennis scholarship to Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He later moved to Charleston, West Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Helen.
Brad spent more than 40 years working as an IT integration manager at IBM. Through his time at Marshall and IBM, he formed many lifelong friendships. He was known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, though no one laughed harder at his jokes than Brad himself. A devoted fan of St. Louis sports teams, he also played hockey for many years, including a title-winning season in the “Gerihatricks” 50-plus league. Brad was a dedicated blood donor with the American Red Cross, generously donating more than 95 times.
Brad’s most cherished role was that of devoted husband to Helen, loving father to Elizabeth (married to John) and Matthew (married to Katie), and proud Pop Pop to Bella, Jake, Henry, and Ian.
He is survived by his brother, Barry Chattillion (married to Stephanie); his nephew Nicholas; his sister, Debby Chattillion (married to John); and many cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Diane Legleiter, and his nephew, Scott Chattillion.
