Brenda Fitzpatrick Bean, age 60, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on May 17, 2021, peacefully with family by her side at Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. Beloved wife of John F. Bean Jr., mother to John F. Bean III, Meghan Bean Sieburgh, and Meghan’s spouse, Trevor Sieburgh, and grandmother (“BB”) to Eleanor Sieburgh. Brenda was born on January 3, 1961, in Bethesda, Maryland, to the late Norma (Mayberry) and Eugene Fitzpatrick. She is predeceased by her brothers James, Don, and Greg (Betsy, deceased) and sister Debbie (Kevin, deceased). She is survived by siblings Pam (Steve), Joe (Jeannie), Paul (Becky), and Jennifer (Steve). She is predeceased by brother-in-law, Chris (Denise, deceased) and survived by in-laws Kevin (Sue), Kathie (Chuck), Cheryl (Charlie), Michael (Michelle), Marty (Kim) and 27 nieces and nephews.
Brenda attended Richard Montgomery High School, graduating a year early in 1978. She was eager to get started with her life and career. She spent five years working at a law firm before beginning her 28 year career at the City of Rockville where she served as Deputy City Clerk. Brenda met John, her husband of 38 years, at age 18. They had a strong partnership and love for each other that only got better over the years. They were the loves of each other’s lives.
A devout Catholic, Brenda was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Rockville for her entire 60 years. Not only was she involved in the Church, she always found time to volunteer and participate at her children’s schools, St. Mary’s School, Gonzaga, and Georgetown Visitation.
The most important thing to Brenda was her large Irish family, getting together and cooking for them. She loved every single holiday because it meant spending the whole day in the kitchen with music playing. The only time Brenda wasn’t cooking for others was when there were “fat” crabs to eat. She could spend hours picking crabs with friends and family. Brenda extended the same love and graciousness to her friends. They were an extension of her family. She was the life of the party with an infectious smile and laugh. She really listened and had the ability to make everyone she encountered feel special. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit and generous heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in memory of Brenda at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockville, Maryland, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. The family will receive friends and mourners at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Brenda’s family will attend her internment before joining the reception beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Knights of Columbus in Derwood, Maryland. All are welcome at St. Mary’s and Knights of Columbus.
