Christopher (Chris) Mitchell Peirce, of Olney, MD, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2022. He was only 37 years old. The family is both devastated and shocked by his death. Chris was born May 5, 1985, in Washington, DC to Mitchell and Catherine Peirce.
Chris graduated from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, MD in 2003 and went on to proudly serve as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 2003-2007. Upon completion of his active-duty service, Chris pursued his education and graduated from Salisbury University in 2011 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. He continued his education at Salisbury University obtaining a master’s degree in Applied Health and Physiology-Strength and Conditioning. While studying for his master’s degree, Chris was the Head Trainer at Powerhouse Gym in Salisbury, MD. He then went on to work as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Elite Athlete Training Services (EATS) in Rockville, MD. Chris’ passion for the military led him to a career as a Recovery Care Coordinator with the Wounded Warrior Regiment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center until the time of his death.
Chris loved spending time with his family and friends. His smile could brighten a room and his infectious and memorable laugh, especially over simple things, would make you laugh too, even if you didn’t find the joke as funny as Chris made it out to be. Chris loved being in any body of water, whether it be the ocean, the lake, or a pool, as well as spending time surfing and fishing. Over the past few years, Chris enjoyed woodworking and coaching his son’s youth lacrosse team. He had a passion for and mastered grilling and smoking meats. Chris’ other passion was health and nutrition. He was an avid weightlifter and competed both as a bodybuilder and a strongman. Chris was always researching healthy and natural ways to take care of himself and his family. But most of all, Chris was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed weekend adventures with his wife Lauren and son Carter. He was a big kid at heart, and it showed when he played with his son, whom he adored. Chris was often called “the baby whisperer” for the way he loved and interacted with babies and children. Chris was a faithful and attentive husband to his wife, and he loved her deeply.
In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his wife Lauren and his son Carter, siblings Stacey Nguyen and husband Pete, Courtney Peirce, Danny Peirce, nephew Daylen Courange, in-laws Marvin and Lori Thomas; brother-in-law Brett Thomas and wife Marie, and nephew Logan Thomas, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, “framily” and friends.
