

David was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Beltsville, MD. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1961 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He met Janet in 1959 and they were married December 9, 1961. They have one son, two daughters, and have also been blessed with three grandsons and three granddaughters. Their families are spread across the world in England, Philadelphia and Dallas, providing many opportunities for travel.
Following his college graduation, Dave worked 37 years for the US General Services Administration in Washington, DC. He was responsible for the Project Management of the design and construction of many Federal government building projects in the Washington, DC area. Some of the notable projects he managed include the renovation of the Blair House(Presidential Guest House), renovation of the White House West Wing, renovation of the Old Executive Office Building, the Ronald Reagan Building, the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Building, the new IRS Headquarters Building, renovation of the Justice Department Building, renovation of the Old Post Office, renovation of the Pension Building, and the Howard University Teaching Hospital. He was also responsible for renovations of the National Presidential Library Program. Additional responsibilities also included several Smithsonian Museums, including the Air and Space Museum, the Quadrangle (the Sackler Gallery, National Museum of African Art and the Haupt Garden), the Museum of American History and the Smithsonian Storage Facility. In 1998, he accepted a position with the US Department of Treasury to manage the renovation and restoration of the historic Main Treasury Building, from which he retired in 2004. He was a member of the US Government Senior Executive Service.
Dave and his family resided in upper Montgomery County, near Hyattstown for 33 years prior to moving to Asbury Methodist Village in January, 2006. David and Janet are members of the Damascus United Methodist Church and were involved with many activities and volunteer work there. He enjoyed the opportunity to Chair the new church building project atBethesda/Browningsville United Methodist Church and also Phase 1 Extension project at Damascus United Methodist Church. A highlight of the years at Bethesda/Browningsville included a mission trip to Haiti.
Dave was also involved in and enjoyed many Asbury activities including serving on the Future Projects PAC, the Long Term Planning Committee and the AMV Foundation PAC. He was elected to the Board of Governors (currently AMV Community Advisory Committee) and also served on the Asbury Atlantic Board of Directors. Fun times were also had participating in the Asbury Musicals for five years!
His hobbies included ballroom dancing, camping, travel, and photography. He enjoyed driving their motorhome to many places around the country to vacation and visit family.
A visitation will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD on Monday, May 26, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held at Bethesda-Browningsville Cemetery, 11901 Bethesda Church Road, Damascus, MD on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 10 a.m. with a celebration of David's life to follow at the Guild Chapel in Asbury Methodist Village at 11:30 a.m.
