Ernest Bertram Silva

Mr. Ernest Bertram Silva, 80 of Silver Spring Maryland passed away peacefully December 17, 2023 at the Suburban Hospital. He was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka to the late Alosyius and Maud Silva and is survived by his loving wife Anna Shirlyn Silva, their three children Anne Chandri (Suren), Mareena and Ernest Surendra and grandson Jacob.

Ernest graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Economics from The Colombo University, Sri Lanka and completed his CIMA (CPA) in Accounting. He was the Senior Accountant at the Ceylon Electricity Board of Sri Lanka for many years before migrating to the USA in 1993. He was a successful businessman until he retired in 2010.

A dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, Ernest was cherished by his loved ones. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly spending time with family, watching cricket/boxing, tending to his garden and even cooking/baking.

A mass of Christian burial will be held for Ernest on December 21, 2023 at 11:00AM at the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church in Rockville, MD with final interment at the Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD. A viewing prior to mass will be held at the DeVol Funeral Home, Gaithersburg, MD, from 9-10 AM.
