Esther P. Muller

At 98 years old Esther passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Village at Rockville retirement community. Esther was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and was the second of five children. She graduated from Indiana University in Indiana, PA in 1945. On June 26, 1945 she married the Rev. John Muller and together went to a parish in Shippenville, PA, Petersburg, OH, Bronx, NY and finally settled in Kensington, MD. Together they raised their two children, Martha and Paul. In 1967 she received her Masters Degree from the Univ. of MD and taught high school in the DC school system for 20 years. In retirement they enjoyed traveling, interacting with people of all cultures, and various hobbies and activities. In 1997 she and John moved to an independent living home at The Village at Rockville where they lived until John’s death and 70 years of marriage. Esther then moved into an assisted living apartment.

Esther is survived by her son Paul (Janice), her brother Albert, and numerous friends and relatives and preceded in death by her daughter Martha and husband John.

A private ceremony will be held, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Lutheran Social Services, LSSNCA at 1730 Rhode Island Ave., Suite 712, Washington, DC 20036, Attn. Development.
