On Friday, June 14, 2024, Ian Thomas Ferguson of Derwood, MD, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at age 59. Ian grew up in Potomac, MD and attended St. John's College High School and Catholic University of America, with a degree in Architecture.
Ian loved the art of creating things with his hands and later changed careers from architecture to cooking, where he found his greatest enjoyment. He loved going to restaurants with his friends and family and trying new food and creating magical eating experiences for others. Ian was always up for a talk about politics, Liverpool soccer, or recipes. His favorite pastime, though, was attending his daughters' swim and soccer events throughout grade school, high school, and college. He especially loved being involved in summer swim team, where he volunteered as lane timer or stroke and turn judge, and later served as swim club president.
Ian is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lindsey Hissong Ferguson, and their two daughters, Samantha Ferguson of Derwood, MD, and Ashleigh Gilroy of Manhattan Beach, CA, his son in law Ryan Gilroy, and granddaughter Piper Gilroy
He is further survived by his mother Maureen Ferguson of Rockville, MD, his father Jim Ferguson of Austin, TX, and his sisters Suzanne Ferguson of Bethesda, MD, Kathy Ferguson of Eagle, CO, and brothers Tony Ferguson of Boulder, CO and Joe Ferguson of Evanston, IL.
