So sorry to learn that Jim passed away. My deepest sympathy and prayers to all of the DeVol Family. So many wonderful memories.

You may not remember me from St. Anne's church and school many years ago('70s)but we remember your wonderful family. God bless you all.

It was a beautiful funeral. Jim was so loved and admired--he was a great example to us and always will be. We always looked forward to visiting with Jim (it wasn't enough) He was upbeat and fun to be with. Our prayers will continue for you, Natalie and your family.

It's obvious by both the visitation and the mass how much Jimmy was loved and respected. It's also very hard to say goodby to someone you've known pretty much your entire life but he left us with such an example of how to live life to its fullest and to look on the bright side of the street. We will miss him. God love him and his entire family.

Dear DeVol family- For the past 19 years Ralph and I have had the great fortune to live across the street from Jim and Natalie. Since the first day we moved in, Jim always welcomed us with his easy smile and funny stories about raising children on Quebec Street, homeownership, and Bethany Beach. We loved him dearly and will truly miss catching up with him on the front porch and sharing our life on Quebec street with him. For the 34 years we have been on Rodman Street, seeing Jim was part of our dog walking routine. He was either walking your dog (a vizla?), working in the yard or just out and about ready to greet any neighbor passing by with a friendly smile and a personal remark. We will miss him as will the entire neighborhood.

Mrs. DeVol and family: Please accept my sincere condolence on the loss of Jim. We went to mortuary school together in 1961 and from time to time I would see him at Gawler's and at other funeral director functions. He was a very nice young man when I met him and always continued to be so.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Jim. Please be assured of my prayers for the repose of his soul and that God will comfort his loving family. Jim was a great supporter of his alma mater, Archbishop Carroll High School and my work as the director of advancement. I also appreciated his vocation as a funeral director. He was gracious, kind, and sensitive to families in their time of grief and worked well with all the clergy. Most important, I know he was a good husband and father. May God welcome him into eternal peace.

When I was assigned to St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral for over twenty five years I had the blessing of working with Jim more times than I can count. His presence was always positive wherever he was. His compassion for those he assisted never waned. Please take some comfort in the knowledge of the Resurrection and know that love still binds you with him. "May his Memory be Eternal."

Dear Mrs. DeVol and family, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. DeVol. He was the loveliest, kindest man. During the years I lived across the street in Bethany, I would always have a feeling of peace when I'd see your car turn into your driveway on Fairway Drive, especially in the "off season". I loved talking to him about the beach, and about his granddaughters at Stone Ridge. I'll never forget when he met my son James. In the sweetest voice he said, "You're James and I'm James". It was darling. I feel blessed that I got to see him on the 4th of July at the beach and assure him of my prayers, which continue today for you and all your family.
