Greetings In The Name Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ  Our Hearts And Prayers Are With The Mushonga Family For Loss Of Our Uncle James Mushonga  A Very Important Member Of Our Family  A Great Man Indeed He Was Loved By All And Missed Already  Awesome Man.  We Decree  We Declare  That Healing And Comfort Will Come And Peace Will Come Over Our Life In This Situation  There Is One Thing I’d Dare Not Tell You To Not Do And That’s Not To Cry The Bible Says In The Book Of John 11:35  That Jesus Wept Tears Are Part Of Our Healing Process Towards Our Feelings And Our Emotions  So Sad To Feel Grief Which Is Making Us Numb In Sorrow And Misery.  Spirit Of Heaviness And Even Sadness  Sometimes Distress And Agony  Even Torment, Anger, Loneliness  Sometimes Guilt  Sometimes Shock  But Definitely Pain Feeling Lost Helpless which Leaves Us Bewildered  Then We Ask Ourselves  Could I Have Done Something More And Some Cases We’ve Done Our Best But At The End Of The Day God Is Still In Control  Our Help Is In The Name Of The Lord We Have To Trust In Him He Will Keep You In Perfect Peace If You Keep Your Mind Stayed On Him He Trust In You We Have To Go Through A Process  Of Trusting God  The Lord Is Nigh Unto Them That Are  Of  A Broken Heart  And Saveth Such As Be Of A Contrite Spirit  Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled If You Believe In God Uncle James Was A True Believer  Born Again Christian  In Our Hearts And Prayers  He Will Last Forever That Sweet  Soft Beautiful Voice  Of His Is Echoing  Through The Heavenly Clouds  For The King Of Kings To Hear Now He Is Home He Will Not Be Forgotten  He Will Be In Our Lives  And Hearts  Forever  His Love Lingers Around Us Forever  We Love You Uncle James  We Miss You

Babamukuru we don’t even know where to begin. You taught us a lot about the Lord from an early age. You helped and touched so many lives during your years on this earth. May you Rest In Peace. But I think, maybe, there is some validity in accepting that a part of you went with the person who died, and a part of them stayed with you.

Huvhinyi SaMushonga, that’s how our conversations would start. He would always respond with a warm greeting back. Oh Dad, I wish I could hear your voice again!!! My heart is totally broken and there is a ache that will NEVER go away.   Dad, Father-in-love, Grandpa, each role you excelled. Thank you Dad. Thank you for living by, Joshua 24:14-15 “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. You had the true heart of a servant Dad. Thank you for sharing the love of God and the Gospel to the world. You planted a seed of faith in so many lives and we are eternally grateful.    Thank you for your love and care for our family.  Thank you for teaching me the true meaning of   Corinthians 13:4-13 “Love is patient, love is kind.....”.  You taught me to love people and to continue to do good deeds. The love you showed each of us is unmeasurable. You called on God each night and did not leave any name out (six daughters, sons in law, grandchildren.) Thank you Dad, you were my confidant. Your advice was always out of love, care and compassion. Thank you for praying for me when I couldn’t pray for myself. I am a wife and mother today because of the fruits of those late night prayers.   Thank you for caring, encouraging, cheering, supporting and guiding me when I delivered Malachi. As a NICU nurse I thought I knew all about babies, until I had my own. Oh Dad, you knew just what Malachi needed when he cried. I remember fighting back tears when you asked to carry him on your back. That’s what Mum would have done, but I was blessed to have Dad do this for me. Lord I thank you for the kind, gentle, honest, loving, caring, trustworthy, sincere, strong,and prayerful Father, I was blessed to have for eighty six years.   Dad, lived by Colossians 3:12-13 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience......”Dad what a testimony, of the Great man you were! My Dad was an exceptional man. He was a great man of Faith. He was strong and yet a gentle giant around his grandchildren.   I will miss cooking for you. I loved how each meal you tasted you would ask me for the recipe. I will miss how you played with your youngest grandchildren and how you raced Anna like you were at the Olympics. I will miss your quiet shuffle, how you appreciated the smallest of gestures, but most of all I will miss your prayers and gentle presence.   Heaven gained an Angel on Saturday May 1st ,2021. I’m sure on that sunny day Dad heard  Matthew 25:21, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Joel To my loving father, to be absent from the body, means your spirit is now in heaven. You walked the path of Christ and showed us how to leave this earth in style, yours was a smooth transition from this earthly world into the spiritual heaven.  I will always cherish the time we spent together, you claimed me as a Mushonga whilst I was in my mother’s womb. Years later, Mukoma Tsitsi brought us together. We spent memorable time in Tynwald, from bible studys at noon, afternoon naps, which I enjoy now, to cooking up a storm in the kitchen! On Sundays, we would park our Land Rover on a hill ready to slide off to church! I will particularly miss your voice calling me, Weee!  Through reflection, I am happy that you had a full life and may you rest in eternal peace. To my family, may we rejoice in the Lord always, we are in Christ, all is well 🙏

Grandpa,   There are not enough words to describe how much you mean to every one of us. You have taught us all about love and just how important it is. I appreciate all of the lessons you taught me involving leadership and being a better man of God. You always wanted me to be the best version of myself. I will always appreciate the moments we had together, from playing soccer in the backyard to watching movies late at night. Even though I wish it was more, I’ll always be thankful of the time we did have together. I gain a little bit of comfort knowing that even though you’re gone, you’re now watching over me. Words can’t describe how important Grandpa was to my family and I. He was my best friend he was full of wisdom and always willing to give advice. I saw him as a pillar of our family someone who I could model my life after. He always put people first and was willing to help anyone and everyone. He always talked about how proud he was of Albert and I, and how he wanted more than anything for us to be successful. I pray and intend on keeping my promise to be successful, because it’s what he would have wanted.  I miss you Granpda I love you and I will see you again one day. My Dear Dad Thank you for your love of God.  He taught you how to love others without conditions. Thank you for your love for mom, together you created a beautiful family. Baba, I just want to thank you for being a good father to us all. You took good care of us and made sure that we were protected, safe, lacking nothing. Above all you made it your mission to instil in us the values of respecting one another, respecting oneself and above all respecting God and honouring His word. I reflect on my childhood with happiness and could feel the love that flowed from your heart into ours. Your gentleness and kindness created a peaceful environment in our home.You never raised your voice or hand ,instead when you needed to discipline us, you used the bible;equally in happy moments you praised us through the word of God, enabling us to remain humble and grounded, always reminding us to rely not on our own understanding but on God`s.I recall 3 Moeketsi road,the evening prayer sessions ;the times you physically cared for us when mum was hospitalised and how I preferred your giant slices of white fresh bread with  generous spread of butter and jam,which mum would not have approved of;I recall the evenings we spent as a family in Umwinsidale singing praises and roasting peanuts on an open fire.I remember how,you persistently encouraged us to attend church services and at times during car breakdowns, you would cycle to church with bread and wine in tow;and sometimes you would walk miles just to minister God`s word.I remember when you had surgery to remove a gall stone and during your recuperation time at home,you encouraged us to prepare for the Lord`s supper every Sunday.I believe it is God`s grace alone that saw you recover so well without any after effects. When mum passed away, your tears and hugs showed me just how much you yearned to protect us from that pain. Makamira semusambangwena for the family and during tumultuous times following mum`s passing, our love for each other as a family never waned. When I became a mother to Christopher, you advised me as mum would have done. You stepped into that role and I doubt if any fathers would have shared that advice so openly with their daughters. You made something that is taboo in our culture seem acceptable and normal. You advised me to always get up early before the baby and be prepared in advance; to wash my breasts before breastfeeding and to tie my tummy so that I can recover my shape back. You said,”wava amai mwana wangu wotosimba”.I listened to that advice dad and followed every instruction and gained my confidence in being a new mother so much so that even those with mothers were asking my advice on how to feed and care for their babies. Baba I know you have gone to be with Christ…..but the void you have left behind deeply hurts my soul. I ache for another telephone call; another hug; another laugh/smile and another song laced with your harmonies. I will now strive to live with that void and continue to serve God with the hope of seeing you one day…..united in Christ.  Love Daughter #5  Rumbi  Woodhead

Grandpa, words cannot express how much we miss you. Until we meet again

My dad was the only person who called my name right. MUTSANYI  I'm daughter number 4. I'm the daughter who stayed at home until  I got married.  and lived and worked in Zim . He was a proud father and grandfather. Couldn't stop saying how proud he was of his family. When I was ill in the UK my dad came to be with us. He was a doting grandpa to Tan and took over the school run whilst staying with us.   What I can say about my dad is that he loved us his daughters and he said he loved us the same. No favourites but  to be honest I was his favourite daughter. The others will disagree but hey.....the truth is out now!! There was not a day in our childhood that dad did not come home everyday. He worked hard and we went to the best schools and enjoyed the good life in the suburbs of Harare. Dad loved church and serving God. In our family, every Sunday was Church day.  He loved family so much and he was a father figure  to many people and was loved by many. He made many friends and kept many people close.   He enjoyed football, News and watching Macowboys.  Baba its hard to say goodbye, you were my go to person for advice and thoughts. We also talked alot about life and politics. In every conversation my dad talked about praying for each other and how in every prayer he prayed for his family.  Dad was a great advocate for forgiveness and Christian living saying. "Kundai zvakaipa nezvakanaka"  It was always for me very comforting to hear dad on the phone saying " ndiri right mwanangu, I'm very well."  Dad was very happy here in Maryland and would say "zvese zviri wadi, ndiri kuchengetwa zvakanaka" Hearing of your passing brought alot of ppl together to moan and pay their respects to a true gent and beautiful soul. It speaks volumes for the person you were dad.   We hope to carry on your good work  Farewell Dad, Grandpa, Baba, Shumba Nyamuzihwa rest easy.

My Grandpa was a family man, and there was nothing more that he liked than being around his children and grandchildren. On the times I saw my grandpa and spoke to him over the phone he'd always say how he is enjoying himself and loving life in America! The fact that he's not with us anymore breaks my heart, but the fact that he taught me and our entire family what it means to really love someone will help me heal and go on. I have always looked up to my grandpa, wishing I would really be just as tall as him! From a very early age, I realised he the leader of our family, he was an incredible human being who left his mark on everyone he met. When my grandfather passed friends of mine that I've been with since nursery and their parents akauya kuzobata maoko (came to hold hands). They even rembered my grandpa who took me to primary school near enough everyday. That's how much of a great man my grandpa was.  If you know my Grandpa, there were 2 things he could watch the whole; day Football and the News! But the news, we could watch the whole day. Now growing up, it was always a competition between my grandpa and I. I would want to watch cartoons whilst he would want to watch the news. For me we would watch the news the whole day, it wouldn't change. THE SAME BREAKING NEWS THE WHOLE DAY! Imagine.  Grandpa would always, specifically request for Al Jezeera. He would say "Isa news for me."  I would proceed to put on his favourite Al Jazeera. Now if you know Grandpa, 10 mins into the news, he'd be asleep. Now as a Grandchild of James Mushonga this is where you'd have to act fast! I would silently creep to the remote, and change channel before grandpa wakes up. Otherwise we'd be watching news for another 10 mins. When grandpa would now wake up, he'd now realise the news is no longer on. He would smile but he'd let me finish my cartoons.   My grandpa was a very fit man. When i mean fit, he was racing my cousin Mikayla in my Maikuru's garden as if they were at the Olympics. Usain bolt and Tyson Gay sort of race. Which reminds me about the time he used to take me to and from school.  Around 2008 my grandpa came to London. We would walk to school everyday. He'd make sure he held my hand the whole way and just before we got to the gate he'd let me run by myself so i can could look like one of the cool kids. Now one day, when he picked me up, we were running late and the bus was came. He grabbed my hand firm, and he said we are going to run for the bus. Now, my mum always used to tell me about how my grandpa used to play football; so you can imagine I was not expecting us to run so fast for this bus. The excitement was on overload! It was about a good 80 metre sprint to the bustop but what's that for a grandpa and his grandson. Now my grandpa and I began to run... at snails pace. We were never catching the bus. Even worse my grandpa fell and now hurt himself. So now we've missed the bus and my poor grandpa is hurt himself. It was a disaster, but for me   My Grandpa loved football! He would watch football whenever it was on. He initially was a Manchester United supporter (the best team) but was somehow convinced by my to now support Arsenal.  My mum even bought him a jersey which he wore so proudly. I was in sheer disbelief, but i understood why he changed teams. Manchester United were really going through a bad phase.  My grandpa has really been my rock and one of my inspirations in my life. He has travelled when my mum, has been ill to be there. Looking at it now, i would've been too young to understand why he came, but now that I'm older I understand.  He even called when my cousin passed this year. Him calling, meant so much to me and somewhat even made things easier. My grandpa has been there for me when situations have been difficult and has given me advice and knowledge of the greatest. I wish I could thank him for the love that he shown me and everyone. While I may not know what my future or the future of our family looks like without grandpa, I know that I'm a better person because I was loved by him. I only hope that I can live up to the example of love, strength, character, and integrity that he set for all of us  By Tan
