Jonathan Rainard Simmons - Miller

Jonathan Simmons-Miller, known fondly as Jon to many, passed away on July 30, 2025 at the age of 31. Jon’s sudden departure has left a profound emptiness in our hearts but his spirit and love will endure in our memories.

Born on March 27, 1994 in Silver Spring, MD, Jonathan was the beloved son of Sharon Simmons and Rainell Miller. Jon was educated at Sandy Spring Friends L.S., Ridgeview M.S., Quince Orchard H.S. and Montgomery College.

Throughout his life, Jonathan’s passion for sports and fitness was evident. In his youth, Jonathan participated in various sports including basketball, flag football, karate, roller hockey, track & field and soccer. After graduating from high school, Jonathan became certified as a personal trainer. Along with his work as a personal trainer, Jonathan also sold internet and cable services.

In addition to his parents, Jonathan is survived by an aunt, Vikki Simmons, an uncle, Henri Jean-Baptiste, cousins Maya Jean-Baptiste, Nicholas Jean-Baptiste, Cara Jones, Latoya Adams, Jacob Jett, Gabriela Mells and a host of other family members and friends. Jonathan’s beloved grandmother, Minna Simmons, preceded him in death on September 24, 2020.

A funeral service for Jonathan will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
