Joseph Anthony Madden Pilkerton

Joseph Anthony Madden Pilkerton, loving husband of Suzanne, devoted father of Madden, Tatum, Julian, and Giles, died suddenly on June 19, 2020. The second of five children, Joe will be forever loved and remembered by his adoring parents, Ray and Sally (Madden) Pilkerton; his loving siblings and their spouses, Ray (Antonietta) Pilkerton, Mary (Tom) McAndrews, Chris (Amanda) Pilkerton, and Jeanne Marie (Rafael) Michelena. Joe is also survived by his twelve affectionate nieces and nephews and loving cousins; his aunts and uncles, Walter “Lefty” and Judy Madden, and Joe and Janis Madden. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Raymond and Rosetta Pilkerton, Joseph and Mary Madden, father-in-law, Edward Belanger, and his uncle, Michael Madden. 

Joe was born May 18, 1968 and raised in Potomac, Maryland. A fourth-generation Washingtonian, he attended Our Lady of Mercy School, graduated from St. John’s College High School (’86), Catholic University of America (’90), and he earned his MBA from Northeastern University (’93) in Boston, Massachusetts. Professionally, Joe co-founded software companies, Theory Center and FirstBest Systems, both based in Boston, MA, as well as recent startup, Torchlyte, in D.C. Joe will be remembered for his generous spirit and his love of laughing with family and friends until his stomach hurt. Joe never made acquaintances; he only made lifelong friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive Potomac, MD 20854 on Tuesday, June 30 at 2 pm.
