Kathryn Egan Preston

On Friday, September 25, 2020, Kathryn Egan Preston, 72 of Gaithersburg, MD passed away. Born on July 26, 1948 in Kingston, NY, she was a daughter of the late Margaret Thomas Egan and John E. Egan. She attended high school in the Woodstock-Kingston area of New York and graduated college from Dumbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington, DC. Kathryn received her master’s degree from American University. She taught for Montgomery County Public Schools for 29 ½ years extensively as a kindergarten teacher and was a teacher at Preston Gymnastics Academy. She accompanied her husband on his temporary work assignment in Egypt which lasted over six years. There she volunteered in a Christian school and met weekly with other expatriate wives who formed a knitting group and toured many of the pyramids and temples. Kathryn enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Preston; her children, Kevin, Tim and Peggy; granddaughter McKayla and a brother Clark and sister Dylan. She is also survived by her faithful companions Bowzer and Francine. 

Graveside services and interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue Suitland, MD 20746 on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11 AM. While in attendance please practice social distancing guidelines and provide your own face mask or covering.
