A good reminder of my dad and his passion for cello playing. I love and miss him dearly.

Bro Lawrence was a dedicated man, I'll always remember him, for that!
What he put his mind to do, he usually did! 
I remember asking him to take part in a Christmas program, as the main character, singing and all, I was shocked, he ageed to participate in this way, Needless to say I was presently surprised, as well!!
He was Mr. McDuff, in the play, Two Nights Before Christmas, he did an excellent job, I was so thankful that he shared that side of himself, that we had never seen, before. 
I remember also, as Eva was getting to the age, where the Minister of music, was inquiring, about her joining choir, Bro Lawrence was intent on that Eva, would have to learn how to read music, before she could ever do such a thing. Some thought it wasn't necessary for her to know how to read music to sing in the church choir, but Bro. Lawrence held his ground.
 After a few years, after she had started playing the piano, and learned how to read music, pretty much he allowed her to play at church, and participate in the church choir.
Bro Lawrence knew his music, and immensely enjoyed playing his cello!!


A wonderful musician.  I so enjoyed practicing with him and learned so much from him.

Larry Marsh was a long standing member of the Music Makers society, one of its cornerstones, and one of the most consistent participants. He loved and understood music and was a talented cellist with a beautiful tone. He will be missed. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and wish them the very best.

Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember your dad. My heart goes out to you for the loss. I hope your happy memories will help you through this difficult time. I wish I could have met such a gentle soul.

My name is Eva Keeney Marsh. I am the daughter of my father Lawrence Keeney Marsh, or as some of you may know, his little Princess. He has always called me that ever since I can remember. As a child it was a title I took in passing and never really gave it much thought. I thought it was just another title a dad was giving his daughter. As I got older, I truly came to realize how much more it meant. He treated my mother and myself like royalty. We always came first. He was an adamant provider, both as a father and as a husband. He made sure to spend his evenings with me playing what’d we’d call Exercising with Baby. He’d pick me up and throw me into the air, take me in his arms and swing me around, even be my own rocking horse. As a husband, I always saw him providing for my mother. He’d always, old fashioned, call himself the bread winner of the family, and he was. He provided us with food on the table,  enough money for my college expenses since before I was born, and even had enough to send my mother to visit her family on occasion in Bolivia. He did a lot and worked hard to make sure we never went wanting. 

My father grew up in a musical family. He always told me stories of how his parents and his sister would have special family bonding nights of playing their instruments. His father on the clarinet, his mother and sister on the violin and of course my dad, on the cello. His passion for classical music did not go unnoticed. Growing up I remember he would play an array of classical pieces for me in hopes that he too could pass down his musical talent. I still remember the first time I took an interest in piano. I was 5 years old when my dad would sit down at the piano with me teaching me what the musical staff was, how to read the musical notes on a page and how to play each key using my fingers. I carried my father’s musical ability with me as I got older joining chorus ensembles from the 4th grade all the way up to high school and even in all county competitions. I can only hope that by doing those things and taking up piano lessons at home I have made him proud. He inspired my love for music and I will be forever grateful for that.

If there is one other thing my dad was known for was his astounding memory, knowledge and wisdom of Scripture. My
Father did his best to practice & preach what he would read from the Bible. He would always tell me, “You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?” He left behind a good example of what a marriage in faith looks like. He would quote scripture from Deuteronomy 32:35 & Romans 12:19-21 saying “Overcome evil with good.” “Vengeance belongs to the Lord”.
Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the Lord always, lean not to your own understanding” and Matthew 7:12 “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you”. My father loved my mother & demonstrated his love through scripture every day. Some days weren’t easy but my father stuck to Christ’s teachings & treated my mother the way any christian woman would want to be treated. He was truly a man of God & believed in following Christ to the very end. 

With everything being said, my father was a remarkable man. He had so many interests & passions ranging from classical music, foreign language studies, and history. He could tell you what certain words meant in other languages and give you a brief synopsis of an event in American history, although if you really knew him, you knew it wouldn’t be brief and you’d have to take a seat and start taking notes. I will always be proud to have been my father’s daughter and I can only hope & pray that in some shape or form I can live up to the legacy he left behind.

Boy what a character he was! He's an individual with a personality of pure rarity.Let me being with the time when I first met Mr. marsh.

When I first met him sometime in November, his daughter had already told me stories about him where she made him seem like a stoic person. so my first impression of him was, "one wrong move and your toast!" So when his daughter took me to meet her father I was terrified. However, I really cared so I approached like a champ! I'm glad I did because he's such a genuine, kind person that wouldn't harm a fly! He treated me with respect and of course with caution. I'm assuming it's because we never met and he understood that I was courting his daughter. The nature of being a father, protecting his own family. 

The one thing that caught my attention was his handshake. That was a very firm grip to the point of pain! But that pain has left a very good memory of him. Fast forward, were talking and as we're talking I'm admiring his wisdom and brilliance. I thought to myself, "this guy is a genius!" His memory is sharp and he would tell me things that allowed me to learn. At this point I knew he was a good scholar. 

From this moment on, everytime his daughter and I would go visit, I'm instantly pulled by his energy... or his firm handshake! There was always a lesson to be learned by him and as he loved this country more than any citizen I know; he taught me politics! So much so, that I nearly got convinced! haha I remember one time when I triggered his political talks and he just went off! He's known to dominate the conversation, but with innocance. 

He also taught me classical music as that was his favorite subject. He Shared interests with composers like Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach and of course his favorite, Franz Joseph Hayden. We would listen to music and he would make a lot of input for each song. He has plate decorations that have drawings of popular composers on the wall. I'll emphasize that he really loves his music. 

I learned he played the cello, which I never got the luxury to hear him play, but from what I've been told, it was beautiful. I'm jealous of those who listened.

Above all, he put all his thanks and faith in God. He is a God fearing man. We've had many religious talks about understanding Jesus Christs teachings and Gods impact in life. He loved God and with that, I'm sure he's super excited to be with God. To walk with his savior into the kingdom of heaven. He loved God Soo much that he found an analogy of Christianity into the US constitution! I'm telling you... he was a patriot!

 I'll end it with this, Mr Marsh, we love you and miss you. We wish this moment to have never come and pray that you rest in peace. Thank you for all the memories you've left us as we will cherish it deep within our hearts. 

As Dr seuss said, "sometimes you will never know the value of something until it becomes a memory."
