

"Murph" (Age 77)
On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, survived by his son, Sean, and granddaughters, Mollie and Colleen. Murph, as he was known to his friends, was born in New York, the only child of immigrant parents from Dublin, Ireland. He graduated with honors from Most Holy Trinity High School in Queens, New York, and received a full scholarship to Fordham University. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1962 with a Political Science major. Immediately after Fordham, he was accepted into Columbia University's School of International Affairs with a full scholarship where he received his Masters in International Affairs, also with honors. Murph would spend his entire career working at the U.S. Department of Commerce, in the Bureau of International Economic Policy, retiring as the Deputy Director of the Office of International Sector Policy. He spent his final years volunteering at Hero Dogs, Inc., an organization that provides service dogs for veterans and first responders; Montgomery County Volunteer Center; and Toys for Tots. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hero-Dogs.org.
