

Luisa Amalia Garcia Alvarez Junker, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia entered her eternal rest on July 28th, 2021. Luisa was born in San Juan de los Morros, Venezuela on September 13th, 1932. She moved to the United States in her early 20’s, where she met her husband, Herman Junker.
They raised their 4 sons in Washington D.C., who all went to St. Thomas Apostle Catholic School. In 1978, the family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida where they stayed until the kids all went off to college. Over the years, Luisa and her husband continued to spend a lot of time in Washington D.C. Wherever they resided, they were well known for always having an open home and open arms for all who needed a place to stay. Passersby became members of the family, whether they stayed a week, or years.
In 1995, her beloved husband, Herman Junker, passed away, and she spent more time in Daytona Beach, FL. When her health deteriorated, she moved up to Atlanta Georgia where she would spend the last 3 ½ years of her life.
Luisa was a strong, loving, devoted mother, a teacher, a dedicated volunteer, accomplished artist, a devout Catholic, and a gracious host to so many friends and family over the years. She was rarely seen without wearing one of her many hats, and a smile on her face.
She is survived by her four sons: Caesar, Herman, Jules, Maximilian, and her 5 grandchildren Julian, Alexis, Christian, Ella Grace, and Faith, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church, 2665 Woodley Rd NW. Burial in Columbia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 8:00 pm at 4115 21st Street N, Arlington, VA 22207.
