Martha Elizabeth Grimm

Martha Elizabeth Grimm, age 99, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, died peacefully at Kindley Assisted Living Facility of Asbury Methodist Village on April 19, 2023. She was born in Keyser, West Virginia on January 12, 1924, the daughter of William and Anna Wilt.

She was a graduate of Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. She married Samuel O. Grimm Jr on September 1, 1943 and soon thereafter moved to Flushing, New York pursuing Samuel’s career with the National Weather Service and NOAA. This led to another move to Kensington, Maryland in 1963 where they resided until moving to Asbury Methodist Village in 1992. They remained active throughout their married life in the United Methodist Church, initially at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Kensington, Maryland and then at Grace United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her three children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She cherished her life as a grandmother, Nana, to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two of her children, Sylvia Ann Linardi of San Diego, California and Samuel O Grimm III of Ashburn, Virginia. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Anthony Linardi of Lynchburg, Virginia, Michael Linardi of Yonkers, New York, Benjamin Grimm of Concord, California, Jonathan Grimm of Ashburn, Virginia, Adam Grimm of San Diego, California, ErikaGrimm of Washington, D. C., and Zachary Grimm of Vallejo, California, as well as her 7 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her sister, Ethel Wilt, and her son, William Grimm.

A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM open to all. In lieu of flowers contributions to Grace United Methodist Church are encouraged.
