

Mary Kathleen Boland died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning (January 20, 2018), following a long illness. A native Washingtonian, Mary Kay was born on June 8th 1954 to James Edward Boland, MD and Madelyn Marie O’Hara Boland. She attended St Mary’s College Notre Dame, Indiana where she received the Founder’s Day Service award, given annually to a volunteer who has demonstrated a long-term commitment of outstanding service to the University. Mary Kay’s career was in acquisition management and membership. She worked for several companies in the DC Metro area including The Capital Hill Club, The National Press Club and Lexus-Nexus.
Mary Kay is survived by her four siblings and their spouses: James Edward Boland, Jr (Leanne), Michael Joseph Patrick Boland (Debbie), Anne Boland Docimo, MD (Steve) and Patricia Anne Boland Jones (Chris). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Mary Kay was known for her dry wit and sense of humor. She also had a lifelong interest in books, travel and animals. She is also survived by her Bichon Frisee, Jazzie, who is being loved by Mary Kay’s God-Daughter.
