Mary a.k.a. Sissy was born on August 30, 1954, to Lula Mae and Leonard McKinley Garrison Sr. Her childhood was spent in Baltimore, Maryland, where she could often be found preparing mud pies under the steps. After high school she started bowling, where she met her future husband. On June 7, 1975 Mary was married to the love of her life, the late Paul Howard Goodwin. From this union, they had two beautiful children, Nicole Renee and Eric Paul.
Mary worked as a bookkeeper and payroll administrator. She loved all things beach and ice hockey, “Go Caps!” Mary was known to many as the “Energizer Bunny,” never stopping, always going and going. She loved cooking, which must have come from all those mud pies! Mary was always preparing food and baking. Entertaining family and friends always made her happy. Mary continued to bowl for many years, serving as secretary/treasurer for the leagues.
Above all, Mary was a very devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Paul Howard Goodwin. She was the loving mother of Nicole Renee John (husband Jairus) and Eric Paul Goodwin (wife Kim). Also surviving are her mother Lula Melton and siblings, Elizabeth Ann (husband Dennis), Janice Fay (deceased), Michael Wade (wife Anna), Leonard McKinley Garrison Jr. (wife Teresa), six grandchildren (Rebecca, Nicholas, Samuel, Lillian, Victoria, and Paula), nieces (Jennifer, Michelle, Kendra, Crystal, Karrie, Tricia and Beth), nephews (Steven, Wayne, Christopher, Brian, Lenny, Mac and George) and a host of friends.
