Matthew grew up in Darnestown Maryland, and graduated from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Matthew is remembered for having a great heart and a kind lighthearted spirit. He was passionate about his dirt bike, kayaking on the Potomac River, hiking on the C&O canal, snowboarding in Colorado, Chile, and Maine, and longboarding on the streets of his neighborhood. Matthew was a voracious reader, and loved animals, nature, and science.
Matthew is survived by his mother Marie Collins, his father Michael Collins, his sister Mia Collins, and his grandmother Jean Collins, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matthew was loved deeply by his friends and family, and will be missed greatly.
A memorial service for Matthew will be held at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville, 100 Welsh Park Drive, Rockville, MD on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
