

Milagro “Mily” Martinez Uribe Welter, of Rockville, MD, passed away at the age of 83 on September 10, 2021. She was born on November 10, 1937 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Maria Juana Uribe de Martinez and Miguel Martinez Huezo.
Milagro was married to Lloyd Welter (son of Dominic and Agnes Welter) for 40 years until his passing in 2009. She is survived by her only child Philip Welter (wife Sasha), grandchild Gabriella Welter, her four siblings, Ana Laura Melara Martinez (husband Carlos A.) of Clayton, CA, Yolanda Martinez de Solorzano of El Salvador, Miguel Martinez Uribe of Simi Valley, CA, and Antonio Martinez Uribe of El Salvador, and their many children and grandchildren in California, Washington, El Salvador, France and Belgium. Milagro is also survived by her in-laws Sister Marion Welter of Mankato, MN, Sister Doris Welter of Mankato, MN, Kathryn Welter of Germany, Harold Welter (wife Marlene) of St. Michael, MN and their children and grandchildren in Minnesota.
Milagro grew up in San Salvador where she was a good student at La Sagrada Familia school, studied English from a young age, and earned her degree from the University of El Salvador. She was married in 1969, and would live in many places around the world such as Peru, Brazil, Indiana, England, and New York City before settling in Rockville, MD in 1980. Milagro was a very kind and gentle person. She was a tireless mother and wife that did everything possible for her family. She enjoyed working for many years as a Senior Editorial Assistant at US Pharmacopeia in Rockville, before retiring in 2008.
Milagro loved many things such as writing, traveling, and music, but most of all she loved all of her family, her many friends, her church, and her home country of El Salvador. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who always kept up with everyone.
Friends may visit DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. for viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Raphael Catholic Church (Rockville, MD) on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
