He was born in Conchabamba, Bolivia on May 10, 1960, and migrated to São Paulo, Brazil at an early age. He was raised by his mother Yolanda Carvajal DelGadillo, and four other siblings. He migrated to the USA on March 7, 1989.
Raul played soccer and went to college for a brief time since he had to take care of his younger siblings. He was like their second father. He moved to the US where he learned many trades, including how to build a house from the ground up.
He was a professional truck driver for over 20 years, as a truck driver he was able to visit or at least drive through most of the 50 states, except Hawaii and Alaska.
A longtime resident of Rockville, MD, Raul enjoyed watching soccer and the Redskins play. Raul enjoyed spending time with his wife Nancy Arandia, stepdaughter Erika, his son-in-law, Eddie, and his nine grandchildren. Though he was not able to have children of his own, he loved and considered his stepchildren's kids as his grandkids and they loved Raul back just the same. Raul was never too tired to spend time with them. Taking them out to Bolivian festivals, eating delicious foods, hanging out in the pools, Burger King's playground, picking them up from school, sports practices, or simply just staying home taking a nap with them. He lived with Nancy, Erika, and Eddie since 2003 until his death. He was always able to help with his grandchildren at any time. He was very caring and also donated his time to anybody that needed help. As we say in Spanish, "he would give someone the shirt off his back."
His survivors include wife Nancy Arandia, stepchildren Edgar (Ana) Salinas, Alex (Mercedes) Salinas, Erika (Eddie) Velasquez, nine grandchildren Isabel V, Jasmine V., Daniela V., Eddie, Jr. V., Christopher V., Ariana V., Matteo V., Lucia S., and Juliana S. Raul is also survived by his beloved siblings Fadua Peixoto, Guido Carvajal, Oscar Carvajal, and Ritma Carvajal. He will be also be missed by nephews Giovani and Jonathan Peixoto, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
