Renee Debra Kavadoy passed away at her home in Rockville, Maryland on February 23, 2022 at the age of 66. She leaves behind her husband George, her daughter Stephanie, her son in law Rohit Ajmani, her sister Tammy, her brother Malcolm and her granddaughter Brianna.
Renee was a strong and courageous woman fighting her ALS diagnosis for over seven years. Never letting her ALS diagnosis prevent her from enjoying life with her family, she enjoyed visiting Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Antigua, Aruba, and the Bahamas. Going to Broadway shows at the Kennedy Center, attending Washington Capitals games, and seeing rock concerts at Wolf Trap and other venues kept Renee active, always ready for a new adventure that her daughter always enjoyed planning for her. When leaving the house to visit public places became difficult for Renee, she found such joy accompanying her family on long walks in the Windermere Community and meeting wonderful people and friendly dogs. Renee felt such comfort living at home watching her wild birds and butterflies in her backyard.
She had a loving relationship with her granddaughter Brianna with whom she cared for always volunteering at her school on field trips, class parties, and lunch angel duty, going on vacations, going to the MoCo fair, taking Brianna to her ice skating and tennis lessons, playing tent, and watching game shows and old classic television shows such as Leave it to Beaver. Renee always felt motivated to fight her ALS so she could see her dear Brianna grow and flourish. Giving over twenty years of service to the Federal Government, Renee retired in 2017. She remained close with her co-workers. Not knowing she was diagnosed with ALS, Renee played tennis three to four times a week. Playing tennis with her daughter Stephanie in the USTA was a huge highlight of her life in her 40’s and 50’s. The Kavadoy duo was a fan favorite playing in leagues in Montgomery County, Maryland and in Northern Virginia, Most of all, Renee enjoyed playing singles with her husband George and playing mixed doubles with him for over thirty years. Meeting so many wonderful tennis player friends was a huge part of the Kavadoy family.
Renee had a loving connection with the Lord. She was always faithful during her journey with ALS to learn more about reading passages in the bible. Reading testimonies and studying prayers about miracles and healing gave Renee always renewed hope. Her family believes her belief in God and faithfulness in prayer was the medicine keeping her going on fighting ALS for so many years. Listening to worship music always gave Renee great comfort. Renee passed away knowing that her family was always so supportive and caring of her. She had an amazing relationship with her nurse Veruska who was a loving caretaker and friend.
