Born in New York City on October 18, 1928, Richard was a devoted husband to Ana Maria. They met and fell in love over their shared love of classical music, spending 26 years together as spouses and best friends and settling in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Richard loved his Italian roots, baseball, and classic toys, which he enjoyed gifting to the children in the family. He was a gentle soul who always lent an empathetic ear, and he had a particular fondness for helping and advocating for the disabled, especially the hearing impaired.
Following his honorable discharge from service in the US Army in Korea in 1955 Richard served his country as a human resource specialist and trainer with the Office of Personnel Management for over 25 years. Thereafter, he found great joy and fulfillment helping veterans as an employment counselor with the US Department of Veteran Affairs.
Richard is survived by his wife, Ana Maria, stepsons John (Jennifer) Metz and Eric Metz, and many other close family and friends. Richard is predeceased by his son Timothy.
