

Because of her advanced intelligence, she entered Sacred Heart Kindergarten before it was offered by the public schools in Sharpsville, PA. At an early age, Rita had a love for music, marching, and theater. She marched with the Sharpsville Sharpettes at the age of 5.
Rita graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1971, where she continued her love for music, marching, and theater. She was a member of the Sharpsville High School marching and concert band, and also a member of the orchestra and chorus (she had an excellent singing voice). She also participated in all aspects of theater productions. Rita continued her education by attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in English and minored in communication. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1976.
After college Rita worked for Emerson Electric Company in Farrell, PA as an inventory control specialist.
Rita packed up and moved to Maryland in 1978 to start her career with the Department of Justice in Washington, DC as a computer programmer. She soon married Alvin Paul Jordan in 1980. Rita was preceded in death by her husband in 1997.
Rita worked for the Department of Justice for 35 years to work her way up to a computer specialist. While with the DOJ she returned to school to obtain her Master’s degree in communication. Rita retired from the Department of Justice in 2013.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, extended family, and friends. She always went out of her way to help others, putting everyone else’s needs before her own. She loved to travel and go camping. She enjoyed singing and dancing and was the life of any party.
In her downtime, Rita would kick her feet up and watch her favorite show Mr. Pimple Popper.
Rita was an active troop leader in the Girl Scouts for 12 years. She was active in the Debutant Program for 4 years. She was a long-term member of Metro Van Assoc. and Watergate City Vanners.
Rita was preceded in death by for parents Theodore Roosevelt and Louise Ruth Butler, Her husband Alvin Jordan, Her Brother in laws James Good and Glenn Harris, and Her grandsons Thaddaeus Jr. and Brian Phillips.
She leaves her cherished memories with her three children Toi Parker (Sean), Justin Butler, And Leigh Jordan. Her siblings Patricia Good (James), William Glenn (Meredith), Theodore Butler (Andrea), Kathryn Towns (Theodore), Candace Harris (Glenn), Ardena Cook, Rachel Cook, Alice Cook, and George Cook. 13 grandchildren Rashawn, Leon, Andre, Sean Jr., Brad, Brianna, Justin Jr., Antonio, Arayah, Jiraiya, Mariya, Jemma, Cherrybell. 5 great-grandchildren Rashawn Jr., Endymion, Landon, Andre Jr., and Keon Jr. and many cousins, nieces, nephews and host of family and friends.
