
Dr. Robert Lee Carter, M.D. passed away on May 15, 2015 at his home in McLean. He was born in Philadelphia on October 12, 1930. Dr. Carter is survived by Joan Marie Laughlin Carter, his wife of 51 years. Dr. Carter was a long time practitioner of Dermatology in McLean. He revised the Dictionary of Dermatological Terms. After more than 40 years in private practice, he continued to provide medical care on the dermatological staff the Veteran?s Hospital in Washington D.C.
Dr. Carter and his five brothers were long time Washingtonians. Dr. Carter graduated from Georgetown Prep, Georgetown University, and the University of Miami Medical School. Dr. Carter was a resident in Internal Medicine at Duke University and did his dermatological residency at the Johns Hopkins University Medical School.
Robert Lee Carter proceeded in death by his son, Washington attorney, Robert Lee Carter, Jr. He is survived by his two brothers Francis M. Carter and Charles Carroll Carter and his children and their spouses, including Alex and Karen Carter Inglese, Clifford Gross, Esq. and Dr. Mary Ella Carter Gross, Susan M. Butler and John L. Carter, Mercedes Carter, John Krambuhl and Kathryn Carter Krambuhl, Gerald A. Sullivan and Anna Carter Sullivan, William Smith and Deborah Carter Smith, and Elizabeth Lee Carter and 13 grandchildren.A funeral Mass will be held at one o?clock on Wednesday, May 20th at St. Mary?s Church at 4231 Catholic Church Road in Petersville, Maryland with a reception to follow.
