He was born on October 20, 1932 in Washington, DC to Earle and Ruth Kendrick. Bob joined the army and served during the Korean War. It was there that he met his future bride. They returned to the US and enjoyed life together in the Washington Metropolitan area.
He turned down an appointment with West Point to have an enjoyable 38 year career with Pepco.
Bob enjoyed traveling, gardening and ballroom dancing. He loved classical music. Nothing was more evident of his devotion and support to his family as he did not miss a single piano recital or competition for his daughters, Karen and Teresa Kendrick
