After suffering a stroke due to complications from battling vasculitis for the past nine months, Sandra Kay Harrell went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the evening of Sunday, July 27th. Surrounded by family at Holy Cross Hospital Germantown ICU, Sandy entered eternity reaching out for the Father’s hand.
Sandy was born on February 24, 1952 in Anderson, Indiana. She was the only child of George and Ruth McCrory, who predeceased her. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, FL. She also attended and graduated from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University). She was a beloved wife and mother with a heart for missions going on several mission trips to Russia and Cambodia. She was also a talented singer starting at a very young age standing on a chair singing trios in church revivals with her father and mother. Later, she sang many years in the National Christian Choir where she met her husband, dated, and married a year later. She also ministered for many years to the elementary age children leading church musicals and directing chimes. In her later years, Sandy served on the Gaithersburg Community Bible Study Servant’s Team and Leader’s Council using her many talents and as the Coordinator. During the nine months of her illness, she served with all her heart and energy putting the ministry of CBS above her condition.
Sandy is survived by Chris Harrell, husband of 33 years and their two adopted children from Lithuania, Stephen Martynas and Alexander (Alex) Vidas. Sandy’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2 at Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene at 2:00 PM followed by her funeral at Denbo Funeral Home in English, IN on Thursday, August 7 at 2:00 PM.
