Steve was born in New York in 1961 and after a valiant 2 ½-year battle with cancer went home to meet his Lord and Savior on October 22, 2023. He is survived by his beloved children Thomas and Megan Giebel, his parents Ed and Mary Giebel of Chester, VA, his siblings Patricia Shell (Blair), Barbara Hamilton (Scott), Susan Giebel (Matthew Grabowy) and his nephews Graham Shell and Aiden Hamilton.
After high school at Thomas Dale in Chester, he graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Health Physics. His work career spanned the aerospace industry and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission from which he retired this past June.
In his spare time, he coached basketball, baseball, and soccer, was a loyal volunteer at his local food bank, and his blood donations numbered in the gallons.
Visitation at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, VA 23834 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM on Friday, October 27, 2023, with a funeral Mass to follow at 6:00PM. All are invited to share refreshments in the church hall after the Mass.
Interment in St. Ann’s cemetery at a later date.
