

He was born on October 14, 1940 in Wakayama, Japan to the late Fukumatsu and Chiyoko Muragaki.
Mr. Muragaki was the third oldest of four brothers. He excelled in school, entered University in 1957 and graduated in 1961. That same year he met a beautiful young lady named Taeko. They were married in 1963. In 1973, after securing a good job, he flew to the United States to build a life for his family. His family joined him from Japan in 1976. He worked for the World Bank from 1982-1998, the United Nations from 1998-2001, owned and operated a private consulting business from 1998-2016. A descendant of the first Japanese Ambassador to the United States (Samurai, Norimasa Muragaki), Mr. Muragaki proudly served as Chairman, for the Descendants of Samurai Association in Japan from 2010 to 2023.
Tak, as he was affectionately known, was a black belt in Karate. He enjoyed golfing, landscaping and was handy at construction. His interests among many were world travel, playing Mahjong, enjoying good food and wine, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Takashi Muragaki is survived by his wife of 62 years, Taeko Muragaki and their two sons, Yasukazu (Akemi) of Rockville, and Toshiro (Tracey) of Urbana. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Zachary, Madison, Erica and Reina. Two of his three brothers preceded him in death. He also leaves many other family members and friends from all around the world who will sadly miss him.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD with Peggy Stinnett officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD.
