Tom Humen, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Bethesda on March 30, 2025, after a long history of health challenges, bravely endured. Born in Detroit, Michigan, the elder son of the late Bill and Alice Humen, Tom attended the University of Notre Dame, where he received a BS degree in Engineering and met the love of his life, Mary Beth Perpich. Soon after graduation, Tom permanently moved to the D.C. area, got his MBA at the University of Maryland, and married Mary Beth. He eventually founded his own company, TWH Solutions, and was widely recognized as a leading sales expert in the HVAC industry.
Over the course of their 44-year marriage, Tom and Mary Beth raised two children, Kathleen Clarke and Christian Thomas, and were then blessed with two wonderful grandchildren, Chloe Marie Humen and Thomas Oliver Keeffe, who will forever know Tom as "Poppa." Tom is also survived by his only brother, Jim, his sister-in-law, Laura, his nieces Hayley (Mike) Dombkoski and Dana Humen, as well as his nephew, Patrick.
In addition to the family whom he loved so much, Tom leaves a remarkable legacy of deep and enduring friendships--hallmarks of a life well lived. He was a passionate golfer, a gracious host, a Notre Dame sports fanatic, and a mentor to many. But above all, Tom Humen was simply a good man.
Relatives and friends may call at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Dr, Potomac, MD, on Wednesday, April 9, starting at 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory would be deeply appreciated and may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, Father McKenna Center, or St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families.
