William, son of Sandra C. Ort and a resident of Silver Spring Maryland, passed away from complications of a hit and run accident.
He was the brother to Carlos M Rivas, Jonathan R Rivas, Renan Villavicencio, Abril Martinez, Larissa Martinez, Taniuska Villavicencio, Esperanza Villavicencio, Pedro Martinez, and Alan Martinez.
He is also survived by Uncle Andrew Ort and Aunt Tina Slaughter Smith of VA; Aunt Mary Ann Jones of NY; Cousin Andrew Ort, Jr of VA; and Cousin Kelsey Shifflett (Trevis Shifflett Husband) of VA; Great Aunt Lisa Lalli Porter of CA; Cousins Mitchell Porter and Amanda Porter of CA; Ashley Bonilla (girlfriend) of MD; Gramma Michelle Minar of MD.
William, Will or Willy as he was sometimes called was a 2021 graduate of JFK High School in Silver Spring, Maryland.
His gift to everyone was his smile and laughter. It was infectious and he was helpful and kind to everyone. Like his mom, he carried within himself a wisdom and strength that he shared through his smile and laughter. He could help change his mom’s (or anyone’s) mood through expressing his joy.
For four years, through high school and beyond, his summers were spent working as a lifeguard at a few local pools because he loved the water and, on his breaks, teaching children to swim.
He had a special love for all animals, especially his kitties. He had a job at a doggie daycare and expanded his love and caring for dogs as well.
He consciously brought joy to himself and others by being in nature. Walking, playing, riding scooters, and sledding in the winter. He loved playing in the snow; sledding down the hill behind the high school brought him great joy.
He loved anime and video games of course! He loved cars. He could identify any vehicle on the road and even enjoyed doing some mechanical work with his uncle. Ice cream! Oh, how he loved ice cream! He could eat it all day. He would even have it for breakfast sometimes!
Even though he was becoming a man he always had a childlike spirit.
He had music in his soul! He loved all types of music. Reggae, Spanish, hip hop, rap, classic rock, and even classical composers like Mozart. Whatever moved him.
We know that you are one with God and are one of his Angels. Reunited with your grandparents and great grandparents.
Thank you for sharing your short but spirit-filled life with us. We love you!
