3 Nov. 1929 – 24 Oct. 2011
Lenthel was born in Dallas, Oregon and was the fourth son of six to Ernest and Martha Ragsdale.
Most of his youth was spent in Mill City, Oregon with his dear friend Harry White. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. This love for the outdoors continued with his family, leaving us with wonderful memories of the fun times in and near the beautiful Oregon trails, mountains, and lakes. He was active in the Mill City Volunteer Fire Department and helped with Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls.
Lenthel and Wilma (Brunner) were married November 23, 1949, and this union gave them 7 children, Susan, Kathy (Jim) Casey, Patty (Jay) Jones, Marvin (Krista), Carl (Debbie), Harvey, Samuel. Lenthel is also survived by grandchildren: Jackie Ragsdale Graves, Jennifer (Arthur) Ragsdale Bialowas, Rebecca Ragsdale, Ben (Julie) Ragsdale, Phillip (Amanda) Ragsdale, Matthew Ragsdale and Amanda Unger, as well as three great-granddaughters, Kassidy and Amie Graves, and Isla Ragsdale. Lenthel was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Susan, and all five of his brothers.
He worked for Simpson in Lyons, Oregon, and was later employed by Georgia Pacific in Toledo, Oregon, Whiteville, North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia and Monroeville, Alabama until his retirement. He was a great teacher of the maintenance trade to many under his supervision.
After retirement, Lenthel was busy with his gardens and land in Monroeville until he and Wilma came back to Savannah to live closer to their family.
We will miss him dearly and love him always.
