

SAVANNAH: Martha Ann Burdette, 73, of Savannah, died Friday, April 25. She was born on January 31, 1941 in Savannah to Dockey and Hannah Lee Brannen. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1958 and retired from Southern Bell in Savannah after more than 40 years of service. Martha Ann was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, where she was active in the Foundation Sunday School Class and the Prime Timer’s Group. She had a servant’s heart and tirelessly volunteered for The Clothes Closet at Silk Hope Baptist Church and numerous local nursing homes, where she provided friendship, conversation and compassion to those in need. When she wasn’t busy with her church, family, friends or volunteer work, she enjoyed fishing and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Waters “Shorty” Burdette of Savannah; daughter, Lynne (Daniel) Brown of Guyton; grandchildren, Joseph and Harrison Brown and Sabrina Harn; sons by marriage, Bryan and Michael Burdette of Richmond Hill; brother, Vernon (Brenda) Brannen of Charleston, SC; niece, Beth Brannen and nephew, Michael Brannen.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 2794 Hwy. 80, Garden City from 6 -8 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 30 at Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Glennville at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 U.S. 301.
