

Tracy Owen Dixon, Sr., 78, of Savannah, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center from coronary heart disease complicated by Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on April 25, 1934, in Blackshear, Georgia, to Alvin A. Dixon and Lizzie Prescott Dixon. Mr. Dixon is preceded in death by his son, Jerrell Tracy Dixon; his parents; his sister, Virginia D. Martin; his brother, Lester A. (Buck) Dixon; and the mother of his children, Louise Crawford Dixon.
Mr. Dixon was the retired owner of Tracy O. Dixon, Inc., a paving contractor in the Savannah area. He was a former member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the Building Committee. He was also involved in the Forest City Gun Club.
Mr. Dixon was a former member of Ancient Landmark Lodge #231, F & A.M’s, the Scottish Rite Consistory - Valley of Savannah, and Alee Shrine Temple, where he was a member and Past President of the Clown Unit.
Mr. Dixon will always be remembered as a hard-working and generous man who touched many lives around the Savannah area. He is survived by three children: Janet Silas (Steve); Jennifer Barritt (Jack); and Tracy O. Dixon, Jr. (Sally Anhorn). He is also survived by four grandchildren: Francesca Allen (Robert); Jaren Curry (Justin); Wes Silas (Alisha); and Megan Barritt. Also surviving Mr. Dixon are his two great-grandchildren: Garrett Bennett and Camryn Curry. Surviving siblings include: John A Dixon (Ann), Emma D. Boyett, Mary D. Prescott and Gloria D. Roberson (Ray).
A special thanks from the family to the staff of Riverview Health and Rehabilitation who have taken such good care of Mr. Dixon for the past four years. Your dedication and love for our father have not gone unnoticed. May you be richly blessed.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Homes & Crematory located at 2794 US Highway 80 W. Garden City, GA 31408.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Dixon.
