
He was born in Savannah, on March 19, 1948, to the late John Rufus Stokes and Laura Sowell Stokes. Mr. Stokes previously worked for Gulfstream and was currently employed with ProBuild. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Belin Stokes; son and daughter, Aron Stokes and Susan Stokes Gilbert; step son, Joshua Belin and wife Leslie; step daughters, Dawn Pentecost and Stephanie Haire and husband Durwood; brother, Rocky Stokes and wife Diane; sister, Delores S. Owens and husband Herb. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. William Rufus “Bill” Stokes will be conducted on Thursday May 8, 2014, at 11:00am in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home and Crematory in Garden City. Reverend Matthew Avera will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West. The Stokes family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
