

Charles “Gene” Kemp was born on May 2, 1950 in Ironton, Missouri to L.C. and Lynda “Sally” Kemp. Gene was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2012. He passed peacefully at home in Garden Grove, California with his family on May 12, 2013.
Gene loved growing up in Fredericktown where he often fished with his Aunt Patty (Adams). He also hunted and played softball. Gene attended Fredericktown High School and graduated in 1968. He then enlisted in the National Guard and was later drafted into the Army. After his service in the military, he then moved back to Fredericktown where he met Kathy.
After Gene and Kathy married on June 25, 1976, they high-tailed it to Garden Grove, California where he went to work in the oil fields. He later joined the Carpenters Union and started working in construction. He was in the Laborers Union for 5 years and then joined the Carpenters Union for 33 years. He worked as a Superintendent for McCarthy Construction until his passing.
He loved coaching Little League Baseball and Pop Warner football. He also loved to BBQ with his family.
Gene leaves behind a wife, Kathy (Kelley) Kemp, a son, Jared Kemp, a daughter, Kacie Kemp, a daughter-in-law, Michelle (Johnson) Kemp, a son-in-law, Daniel Maldonado, a granddaughter, Kalei Kemp, an aunt and uncle, Dick and June Reagan all in California. He leaves behind many cousins. He was loved and will be missed by many.
